Africa at the 2011 MTV Movie Awards


With the 2011 MTV Movie Awards just around the corner, MTV has revealed some really exciting news about this year’s category list – exciting for all of us motherland-dwellers! The music television heavyweight have included a Best African Movie category! Aweh!

This will be the 1st time African film makers will be recognized at the prestigious music awards ceremony. 

The pioneering African nominees for the category are:

Hosting the 20th annual MTV Movie Awards is Actor and comedian Jason Sudeikis. The cermony is set to take place at the Gibson Amphitheatre in Universal City, California on Sunday 5 June.

You can watch the show eMzansi live on MTV (DStv Channel 321) on Monday, 6 June, at 02:00 CAT. THe broadcast will kick off on the Red Carpet which will be followed by the main show at 03:00 CAT.

Another new category to look out for is the Best Line From A Movie category. Up for the award are The Social Network takes on Inception, Grown Ups and Easy A.
